CO2 Sequestration

Environment

Consumption of fossil fuels along with accelerated deforestation is leading to a significant increase in concentration of greenhouse gases (e.g., CO2) in the atmosphere. Some deep saline aquifers and depleted petroleum reservoirs around the world have been employed for CO2 storage. Currently available technologies for CO2 storage in aquifers suffer from technical challenges and social issues. Among them, the potential for CO2 leakage from a geological formation is a critical issue. It is technically feasible to accelerate the rate of the CO2 dissolution via two new processes called Ex-Situ and In-Situ Dissolution. Our company is focusing on design of new CO2 sequestration and capture techniques with emphasis on field implementation in Canada and USA. This ongoing project involves laboratory studies, field works, and mathematical modeling. The project will offer a solid foundation for designing state of the art carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility.
